Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He saved four early-game chances in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
